THE PI MANAGEMENT MODEL - A TWO PHASES DESIGN

In an article questioning the benefits of on-chain administration, Vlad Zamfir, one of Ethereum’s key developers, argues that managing a blockchain “is not an abstract problem”. This is a social problem. One of the key points of Vlad Zamfir is that it is very difficult to design a priori systems of administration before observing the particular challenges posed by a particular political system. One historical example is the founding of the United States. The first experiment with democracy in the United States, the Articles of Confederation, failed after an eight-year experiment. The founders of the United States were then able to draw lessons from the article of the Confederation in drafting the Constitution – a much more successful experiment.

THE PI MANAGEMENT MODEL - A TWO PHASES DESIGN

Until the network reaches the critical mass of 5cm. for users, the Pi will operate under a temporary administration model. This model will more closely resemble off-chain management models used today by protocols such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, with Pi’s Core Team playing an important role in guiding protocol development. However, Pi’s Core Team will continue to rely heavily on community opinion. The Pi app is the place that the Core Team seeks community outreach and collaboration with Pioneers. Pi receives community reviews and suggestions, expressed in points that are open to comment on the Pi page, FAQs and White Paper. Each time users log on to the Pi website, they can comment on a specific section to ask questions and suggestions. Face-to-face Pioneer meetings organized by Pi’s Core Team will also play an important role in helping the community. In addition, Pi’s Core Team will develop a more formal command engineering. One potential system of administration is Liquid Democracy. In Fluid Democracy, every Pioneer will be able to either vote directly on an issue or transfer its vote to another member of the network. Pi’s “Constitutional Convention” (> 5 million members)

By the time we reach 5cm. members, a temporary committee will be set up based on previous contributions to the Pi Network. This committee will be responsible for finding and submitting proposals to and from the wider community. It will also organize a series of meetings where Pi members will be able to plan the long-term direction of Pi. Given Pi’s global user base, the Pi Network will hold these meetings at many locations around the world to ensure accessibility. In addition to face-to-face meetings, Pi will also use its application as a platform to allow Pi members to participate in the process remotely. Either in person or electronically, members of the Pi community will be able to participate in the long-term planning of the Pi management structure.
